Government Relations Research Specialist

The NC School Boards Association is currently accepting resumes for the position of Governmental Relations Research Specialist. A successful candidate will be able to work under limited supervision, performing a variety of tasks requiring independent judgment and discretion in executing the goals and objectives of the Governmental Relations department of the North Carolina School Boards Association. Work involves assisting, coordinating and implementing the Association’s advocacy efforts; identifying, analyzing and tracking legislation that may impact local education agencies; conducting research on potential and current issues of importance to the Association’s membership; monitoring and analyzing state agency activity affecting schools; coordinating the department’s membership outreach efforts; preparing communications and publications to advance the Association’s advocacy efforts; and preparing, distributing and maintaining a variety of reports, records and materials.


Necessary skills include strong writing skills, including taking complex issues and expressing them in understandable and accurate terms; ability to multitask; knowledge and proficiency of various social media platforms; and an interest in website maintenance.


This position reports to the Director of Governmental Relations.
