Government Relations Assistant

Williams Mullen is seeking to hire a full-time, non-exempt Government Relations Assistant to support our Government Relations group as they provide services to government relations clients. This position may require working nights and weekends, particularly during legislative sessions.  This position is for our Raleigh Office.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Assemble and coordinate calendar of legislative and political activities relevant to client interests
  • Research and presentation of information
  • Attendance at and preparation of detailed summaries of meetings
  • Interaction with various constituent groups and other staff and lawyers within firm, and
  • Coordination of required compliance documents


The functions of the position can vary to some degree, based on pending legislation, clients involved and state regulations.


Requirements Include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or experience in related activities.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communications skills, to include operating knowledge of social media communication tools.
  • Ability to conduct extensive research.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced external and internal environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to confidentiality.


ADA Requirements:

  • Reaching, handling, acuity, hearing, speaking,
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Mobility to attend numerous events at off-site locations.
