We're excited to welcome Leo John and Katie Hall on April 19th. We hope you'll join us!

SPEAKERS

Leo John serves as division director in the Lobbying Compliance Division at the Secretary of State’s office. He has worked at the state agency for seven years with prior service in Securities and Investor Protection and in the Government Relations units. His prior experience includes serving as the agency’s Legislative Liaison and Ethics Liaison. Prior to returning to the agency in 2021 he worked as a lobbyist with the NC League of Municipalities. Leo is a graduate of Campbell Law School and a licensed attorney.

Katie Hall serves as a Legislative Liaison with the North Carolina Secretary of State. Prior to her time with the NC SOS she worked for both the legislative and executive branches, serving as Legislative Liaison for the Department of Administration from 2017 to 2022 and Legislative Assistant to several members of the House and Senate since 2004 where she enjoyed working on education, commerce, and justice and policy safety policy and budgets.

TOPICS

Presentations will include lobbying compliance, including lobbyist and principal registrations and filings, and an overview of historical data from the Secretary of State’s Lobbying Division, followed by a roundtable discussion on potential solutions to the lobbyist and principal fee increases implemented  in last year’s budget.

SCHEDULE

We'll offer both in-person and online attendance options. The first session will begin at 11:00am. A lunch will be provided for those attending on-site at 12:15pm with time for discussion. The second session will begin at 12:45pm, followed by the roundtable. This event will count for two hours of CLE credit.

This year, there are eight registration types, four for NCPLA Members and four for NonMembers:

  • In-Person Attorney - $125 (for CLE credit)
  • Virtual Attorney - $125 (for CLE credit)
  • In-Person (non-attorney) - $75
  • Virtual (non-attorney) - $75

NonMembers

  • In-Person Attorney - $150 (for CLE credit)
  • Virtual Attorney - $150 (for CLE credit)
  • In-Person (non-attorney) - $100
  • Virtual (non-attorney) - $100

If you are an attorney and will need CLE Credits, please be sure to select the appropriate Attorney registration level and price. If you do not select the Attorney registration, you will not receive NC Bar credit.
