The VP will serve as the lead advocate for (AHHC) and the South Carolina Home Care & Hospice Association (SCHCHA), which AHHC manages as a separate association. The VP is responsible for representing AHHC not only in the General Assembly but also before various commissions, boards, and policy makers. The VP promotes and advocates the mission of the home health, home care, hospice and palliative care industry. As for SCHCHA, the VP will work very closely with the contract lobbyist team in Columbia.
Essential responsibilities include: serving as chief lobbyist for AHHC and managing all contract lobbyists for AHHC and SCHCHA; developing legislative priorities and strategy for both states; serving on key association and industry committees; fundraising for the association’s PAC and Advocacy Funds; and serves as the key author and editor of the weekly Advocacy newsletter.
The VP is responsible for communicating important legislative and regulatory updates to the AHHC and SCHCHA memberships; coordinating reports to the Board of Directors; working collaboratively with other associations’ as needed; and presenting at AHHC and SCHCHA conferences.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable with public speaking; organized and able to meet deadlines; prioritize multiple projects; act with flexibility and maintain reliable files and archives.
B.A. or B.S. is required in political science, public administration or health care policy. Masters Degree or JD preferred. A minimum of three years lobbying in North Carolina is required, and healthcare advocacy and fundraising experience is preferred. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and outstanding and diverse set of benefits. This position will report directly and take some direction from the President & CEO and work closely with AHHC COO and clinical staff as warranted. Newly hired staff will be expected to achieve compliance with all AHHC policies and procedures.
